Paradise Datacom at Satellite 2017: Show preview

March 3, 2017

On the eve of Satellite 2017 in Washington DC, the diligent industry observer may expect the innovative Q-NET satellite network solution to take center stage at the Teledyne stand this year. And you wouldn’t be wrong.

But the sharp-eyed visitor meandering around the main exhibit hall will notice a much wider aspect to Paradise Datacom’s presence at the show this year. It may come as a surprise to some to find out that exhibitors at this year’s show have integrated Paradise’s Q-Lite COTM modem into no less than eight different flyaway terminals. And a further two exhibitors are in the process of integrating the Q-Lite into new satellite terminals. Amongst the terminals offering the Q-Lite modem are:

  • Datapath SWE-DISH CCT terminal
  • Datapath QCT90 man-portable terminal
  • Ultra Gigasat FA-100 satellite terminal
  • New Ultra Gigasat Gregorian-antenna based satellite terminal
  • Vislink Mantis MSAT man-portable data terminal
  • Sematron MDM3100/330 rugged outdoor modem
  • General Dynamics C60MPT and C100MPT VSAT terminals
  • Inster satellite terminals

Of course, satellite terminals are just one part of the mobile communications and comms-on-the-move market and the Q-Lite can be found in many other products including piloted and unpiloted airborne applications and vehicle-mounted satellite communication systems.

Over the past 18 months, the Q-Lite has succeeded in establishing itself as the de-facto COTM modem of choice. Paul McConnell, Director of Sales (EMEA) commented, ‘The Q-Lite has a worldwide market presence but European satellite terminal and man-pack vendors have been particularly aggressive in bringing new technology to the market and, of course, we are delighted with the way that the Q-Lite has been so widely adopted.’ The Q-Lite has been designed to be small in size, lightweight and with low power consumption, not to mention cutting-edge performance including support for DVB-S2X – the most bandwidth-efficient waveform technology available anywhere.

On the Paradise Datacom section of the Teledyne stand, we will be demonstrating the Q-Lite and Q-Flex satellite modems as part of a Q-NET point-to-multipoint system, including the Q-MultiFlex modulator/multi-demodulator and our network control applications. If you are visiting then please come along to our stand (#1509) and let us give you a personal demonstration of our latest technology. We look forward to it.
